Colombo a City Filled with Great Culture and History

Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka and the biggest city which is filled with great culture and historical attractions. It is also known as the financial and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. It is a place with vibrant mixture of colonial buildings and modern life. It is one of the major holiday destinations for most of the holiday makers because of its culture, large harbors, beaches, museums, multi ethnic and multi cultural city and many more.

The temperature always varies through the country, it enjoys tropical climate. December to March and Mid July to September are the best times to visit the place. Bank of Ceylon tower is one of the cities prominent landmarks and it was the tallest structure. Independence Square is one of the national monuments which were constructed in 1948, where you can enjoy seeing all the ancient architecture, carvings and painting. Colombo Light house, millers building, Colombo Fort are some of the ancient monuments which are to be visited.



Religious places and things not to miss

The Gangaramaya Buddhist temple is one of beautiful temple which was constructed in the 19th century. It is famous for its amazing architectures, buildings, bo tree, Simamalaka, museum, and many more. Kovils is a place where you can visit various Hindu temples like Shiva Subramania Swami temple, Bala Selva Vinayagar Moorthy temple and many more.Wolvendaal churches, Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque, Kalani Raja Maha Viharaya are some of the religious places which are worth visiting.

Dehiwella Zoo, Galle Face Green, Viharamahadevi Park,Attidiya Bird Sanctuary, Colombo Planetarium, Mount Lavinia are some of the best places for children where they love to spend their time. You can taste various cuisines such as desserts, seafood’s, North Indian Cuisines, Japanese and all international dishes are served. It is a place with good deal of nightlife all around the beaches with live DJ's, dance floors and well stocked bars.
